Parking and Transportation


The 3 main lots on Godfrey Parkway will have signs on the pay stations indicating that Get in Gear has absorbed the cost of parking beginning at 12 pm on Friday.

Parking spots adjacent to the Pavilion (west side and on Old Minnehaha) are not part of the paid parking.

If you park in other metered parking areas on that day without paying, you will be ticketed.

Parking is NOT allowed in the bus circle.
There is NO PARKING available in the park on Saturday for participants.

Vehicles are subject to being ticketed if parked in a "no parking area".

Executive committee members and sponsors may park on a very limited basis by permit only.


The light rail has become a very popular option for our participants to arrive at the race.

The nearest stations to Minnehaha Park are VA Medical Center and 46th Street on the Blue Line.

The free bus shuttle service starts at the VA Medical Center (VAMC), which is located approximately one mile south of Minnehaha Park on Minnehaha Avenue (junction of Highways 55 & 62). Look for directional signs on race morning. Incoming vehicles to the VAMC will be directed to designated Get in Gear parking area by VAMC personnel.

BE EARLY!!! Traffic can, and will be, congested in and around the VAMC and Minnehaha Park the morning of the Get in Gear events.

The shuttle runs from 6:45 am (first departure from VAMC) to 12:25 pm (last departure from Minnehaha Park). Service may end early if buses are no longer needed, as determined by the bus coordinator. Family and friends can use this shuttle also as long as they are aware of the shuttle schedule.

The shuttle runs continuously from the VAMC to Minnehaha Park pavilion in a continuous loop from 54th St. to South Minnehaha Ave. and north to the bus drop and pick-up area at the back of the pavilion. Riders will take a short walk across the falls to the Pavilion. You will find restrooms inside the pavilion. The Information Tent and Volunteer Check-In Tent will be in the Race Village.

The distance between the VAMC and Minnehaha Park is one mile. You may plan to jog or walk as an alternative method to get to the park.

We cannot allow dogs on the bus without proper pre-authorization.
